12th day of Christmas

Had a good day today. Firstly, as my bidding on the CORS ended, let's review my own performance for this time round. Here's the result slip:

JS1101E - 1 pt
EU1101E - 1 pt
HY2229 - 1 pt
HY2245 - 1 pt
FNA1002 - 1 pt

Total - 5 pt

Whoaz! Great improvement from last semester. Maybe it's a good idea not to bid for cybercrime at all. I heard that by the end of open bidding, next min bid was 840 points. It's insane. It virtually drove all year one students out of the competition. But well, I got what I wanted in the end, so no complaint.

Today, I managed to learn something about facing the New Year and since these are tips on how we can face the new year ahead and since it's only 4 days into 2006, I have decided to share these tips with all of my readers.

1. Recognise the value of time
Young people like ... me... these days have the tendency to waste time on things which we could have put to better use. According to a research done, an average human being spends 14 years of their life on entertainment and 24 years of their life sleeping (which is inevitable). Well, that explains a lot on how we have spent our time. Being student, I think I can relate to that as most of the time, I'm facing the laptop not doing work but chatting on MSN and blogging =P. But wouldn't the time be better spent if we can recognise the value of time. To be frank about it, we often only can appreciate the value of time when time becomes scarce to us. For example, ask any NS guys if you want to appreciate the value of 2.5 years or any reporter if you want to appreciate the value of 1 day. Bottomline? Time not to take time for granted anymore and begin to manage your time.

2. Dun be in bondage to the past
When we cross from 2005 to 2006, we bound to have brought along memories of the past year with us, along with a lot of achievements and failures, happy moments and regrets. These memories can either be our friends or enemies, depending on how you see it. While everyone has bad memories, it's a matter of how you deal with these memories. Are you going to be slave of your own memories, always living in the land of regrets and failures? Isn't it better 'forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead?' The past is over and we can't do anything about it. But what the past can do to u, or what we do with our past affects how we walks towards the future. So, let not memories haunt you and let go of the past so that you can grab hold of the future.

3. Establish a priority in life
Perhaps most of the time, we dun have a priority in life, that's why we sometimes cannot properly manage our time. Well, to me, this is very much similar to New Year resolutions and having a priority in life means that we have placed something on the top utmost of the list of things which we ought to do. As such, we can properly plan our activities accordingly since we already have our priorities set. To have a priority in life is better than having none which is as good as a wandering spirit on the street (if you believe in spirit).

Well, that's three tips on how you can face the new year.

Actually went out with my JC classmates for dinner. Surprisingly, although I have not met up with them for quite a long time, they are still the same old people whom I used to know. Well, maybe outwardly they are still the same but inwardly, I know for sure some of them have changed quite a lot. We went Takashimaya Ajisen to eat ramen (I'll never patronise that kind of place again) and later went Heeren for some shopping. Well, dun wanna release all details but there was one particular issue which we briefly discussed but I think it's interesting to bring it up here. It's the issue of porn... yes... porn. You see, one of my friends (not going to mention names) told his girlfriend that he watches porn. Well, certainly not a big issue other than the fact that we began to overemphasize the word outloud in the middle of Cafe Cartel. Sort of to make him embarrassed (I dun know if this worked). Nevertheless, I began to think... yeah... these things tend to put people into bad light, so why watch? Perhaps people want something to fantasize on, or perhaps people want to find something to look at for entertainment, or perhaps in the middle of the night.... Well, you get the idea. Well, do you watch porn? I quited it long ago (well, not so long ago)... I'm serious.

Till the next porn... nonono... the next post, sayoonara.
