Submission

A few months after deciding to sign up and enroll into AGBC, I have finally submitted the application form. I have to say, the journey was very much blessed by the support of my leaders and my parents. The greatest hurdle perhaps was informing my parents but I myself was surprised at how smoothly things went. When I mooted the idea to my mother, she was ok with it and even asked me if I have plans to become a pastor. Not that I have any plan on that but I certainly have plans to be a good theologian who treats the Word of God with a high view. After that, it practically set in motion the whole process of application.

The only troublesome thing is the medical checkup and I didn't realise that I could only collect my medical checkup report two days after the checkup.

Now that my application is done and I'm waiting for my matriculation interview, I think this is one of the many milestones cleared. It is by far not confirmed that I am guaranteed matriculation but I think things look hopeful so far. God seems to be making a way for this. It gives me greater assurance that this is really what God is calling me for this season of my life.

Of Teaching and Learning

Over the past two weeks, I was invited to attend a block class on "Learning to Teach." After two weeks of class, here are some reflections that I have. We thank God Bro Casey is a pretty humane teacher... :P  Firstly, teaching needs to meet the changing challenges of the 21st century. This is especially pertinent with all the advancements in technology as well as the worldview changes with the generation today. There is simply no room for the teacher to remain stagnant and not be able to keep up with times so as to engage their students and to facilitate learning. Applying to theological education and Bible school, we have to consider what kind of ministers we are training for the churches in the 21st century. If we are training ministers who are able to engage today’s generation, then we need to review the current methods of teaching and train ministers to be savvy in social media and technology and be able to make use of them in their ministries. Iakobou Epistode: From Confusion to Clarity

Recently I was taking another course on the book of James. Similar to Romans, this is also a book that I have co-taught in church and studied in Eagles Rendezvous. Revisiting this book again yielded three reflection points. 1. The disciple's identification  The epistle by James is an interesting book within the New Testament to study. In my own NT study, I have also been fascinated by how economical the NT authors when it comes to their words - that they do not waste words in their letters. This manifests itself right from the beginning when the NT authors introduce themselves. Many of us will sometimes skip over the introduction, but we can learn a lot about the epistle itself as well as its application to our Christian life through the introduction. In James, for example, James introduced himself as a slave of God and the Lord Jesus Christ (James 1:1).
