New Year Resolutions

Ok, it's going to be New Year soon. In 24 hours time, we will be bidding farewell to 2005 and welcoming 2006. 2005 has been an amazing year for me and before I starts on 2006, let me review the year 2005. Jan: Spent my birthday in Sungei Gedong camp, alone with Lilong. For that whole month, I was doing ops duty with him. Nothing much really. Feb: Finally my ops was over and preparing for ORD. Mar: First highlight of the year- attended PSC. Certainly life changing. Apr: ORD LOH!!!!! I finally got back my pink IC. May: Spent it in oblivion. Mainly planning for my alumni events. June: Successfully organised for PAC Sleepover@Pioneer though there was a lot of glitches. Met the group of friends whom I eventually get very close to on the 26th, such as... a lot of people. Jul: Went through Gen ACTS Matriculation package. Got to know a lot of people from NUS. Restarted my blogging career on 11th. Around 14th, first contact with Christianity, as in first time people actually ask me to go an...

More stuff about myself (those which are more accurate)

Your Christmas is Most Like: A Charlie Brown Christmas Each year, you really get into the spirit of Christmas. Which is much more important to you than nifty presents. What Movie Is Your Christmas Most Like? You Have a Choleric Temperament You are a person of great enthusiasm - easily excited by many things. Unsatisfied by the ordinary, you are reaching for an epic, extraordinary life. You want the best. The best life. The best love. The best reputation. You posses a sharp and keen intellect. Your mind is your primary weapon. Strong willed, nothing can keep you down. Your energy can break down any wall. You're an instantly passionate person - and this passion gives you an intoxicating power over others. At your worst, you are a narcissist. Full of yourself and even proud of your faults. Stubborn and opinionated, you know what you think is right. End of discussion. A bit of a misanthrope, you often see others as weak, ignorant, and inferior. What Temperment Are You? On Average, You ...

Genesis: The Corporate Version

I hereby presents you Genesis: The Corporate Version which I found in one of my friends' blog: In the beginning ........... there was The Plan. And then came the assumptions. And the assumptions were without form. And the Plan was completely without substance. And darkness fell upon the face of the staff. And they spoke to their Section Heads saying: "The Plan is a bucket of crap and it stinks" And the Section Heads went to their managers and said: "It's a pail of dung and none may abide the odour thereof". And the Managers went to their regional managers and said to them: "It is a container of excrement and it is very strong, such that none here may abide by it". And the Regional Managers went to their Directors and said: "It is a vessel of fertiliser and non may abide by its strength". And the Directors went unto the Managing Director and said: "It contains that which aids growth and is very powerful". And the Managing Directo...

New music

Okay, I just updated the layout a bit. To my readers, you all should have noticed now that I have put in a welcome note. Well, it's just a welcome note, nothing special. Next up, I changed the music to a nicer one, though it's not the theme song from Advent Children, but I think it fits in well with the blog. The title of the song is Imagine me without You by Jaci Velasquez. Quite a nice song and hopefully, ppl will stay here longer with a nicer music. Anyway, came across a quote which I wanna share with all of you all: The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

The Art of Bidding (As if I know)

Currently bidding for modules in bidding round 1A. Well, I spent a total of 452 points, out of 1000 points for my modules last semester. Only got two modules which I managed to get it for one point. Here's a summary: HY1101E - 1 PH1101E - 50 HY2216 - 300 SSA2209 - 1 GEK1505 - 100 Well, quite a lot of points spent as a first year student. Luckily my HY2216 survived the onslaught of rapid bombardment of General B.P Farrell and his legion of army from Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan as well as Soviet Union, U.S.A and Great Britain. At least I emerged unscathed. Worth that 300 points. For this semester, I'm unlikely to use too much point for anything. Here's my expectation of what I should be getting: JS1101E - 1 EU1101E - 1 HY2229 - 1 HY2245 - 1 GEK1531 - 600 Yeah, I might be using more than 600 for GEK1531. I'm still thinking whether it's worthwhile. In any case, I'm actually contemplating of showhand everything when I bid for that mod and let God do the rest, tho...

Interesting article

Well, I know I'm blogging in two posts in a space of one hour three in a space of 6. But then, as I wait for 7pm to meet up with friends for dinner and boringly monitor the CORS for market movement, I might as well, especially as I come across this interesting article from my friend's blog, which I thought I ought to share with my readers, especially those who normally refused to click on the links to other blogs. =P Anyway, here's the link

Just for fun

You Are 50% Weird Normal enough to know that you're weird... But too damn weird to do anything about it! How Weird Are You? Your World View You are a fairly broadminded romantic and reasonably content. You value kindness and try to live by your ideals. You have strong need for security, which may be either emotional or material. You respect truth and are flexible. You like people, and they can readily make friends with you. You are not very adventurous, but this does not bother you. What Is Your World View? Your Japanese Name Is... Hiroshi Shimizudani What's your Japanese Name? I probably did some of this before (yeah and you can find them in my previous posts). These are some new ones I find. By the way, I do find them dumb though.

Narnia

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe- interesting movie and certainly a must watch of the year. Of course, I shall not reveal anything about the story, just dun want to spoil the story for those who have not watched it yet. But there are a few things which I noticed throughout the movie which I think I should blog it here. 1. The usual dumb bad guys Well, a brief info before I begin. In Narnia, there was a prophecy that the our four protagonists, two sons of Adams and two daughters of Eve will appear in Narnia to end the Witch's reign. Ok, in the story, the Witch had the chance to stop the prophecy from fulfilling and she didn't. It happens when she had Edmund held captive. This is stupid and dumb. If I'm a villian, I dun even need to finish off all the four in order to stop the fulfillment of the prophecy. All I need is to make sure that the number will never tally up. That's all!!! Dun anyone realise how simple is that, rather than going thro...

Inspiring struggle

I stumbled across this article when I was browsing through The Electric New Paper and I would have done myself injustice if I dun share the story of this person in my blog cos she just fits so perfectly into the main themes of my blog. Okay, this title of this article is called 'I'm alive because of my son'. MANY people know Ms Engelin Teh as one of Singapore's top lawyers, one of only five women who have made it to the ranks of Senior Counsel. But not many know that behind that picture of success is a woman who once almost gave up on life, a woman with such low self-esteem that she regarded herself a failure as a wife, a mother and a lawyer. It was in 1997 that Ms Teh, then 42, was hit by a personal disaster - she was going through an acrimonious divorce, her law practice was not going anywhere despite her 14-hour workday, and she felt distanced from her children because of her workload. The darkening gloom also made the Christian reject God's existence. And it too...

Review time

I just got this tag in my tagboard: stupid guy: hey, I don think being a social smoker mean no spritual life, and I don think I am stupid lor. Next I may not be a christian, but that does not mean I have no spritual life lor ok? Well, I dun condemn smokers but I do condemn the act of smoking, regardless social or habitual. According to dictionary.com, smoking = To draw in and exhale smoke from a cigarette, cigar, or pipe. But a more accurate definition would be 'tobacco at one end and a fool (in which case I would like to call an idiot) at the other.' Considering the effects of smoking, it makes perfect sense to me, which is something smokers would never concede (show me a smoker who understands the health hazards he brings to himself and the people around him and still think that smoking is good for him). And dun argue with me that you are a social smoker. You smoke and that's the fact and you fit into my definition perfectly well, unless you wanna argue that social smokers...

Departing to a new era of challenge

The new semester is going to start soon, and I still haven't finalised all my modules and I still have to make up my mind whether to do six modules or five. Equally probable that it can go both ways, but in any case, since I can only bid for five modules in the first two rounds of bidding, I might as well decide on which five modules to bid first, rather than worrying for a sixth module which may not take place at all. One of my friends just introduced me to a blog just now and I must admit that I dun really enjoy that blog. But one of the stories in the blog did inspire me to think of certain issues. The question comes to my mind: so what would you do if you find that your life sucks or that your life has been empty, void of care and attention? In the modern society (or the world of the young and the new), a few solutions are offered and I shall go through them one by one. I probably have discussed these in my previous posts but well, it's good to bring it up again to refresh ...

Celebrating half a year of knowing

Isn't it amazing? Sometimes I am just amazed by how things work out. As I write this, it's already the 26 Dec. Christmas is over and birthday is less than a month away. Now wondering how the rest of the people are going to play me... hmmm... but anyway, back to the topic. It's really so amazing. I went out to Bugis with some of my friends, two actually. Two very close friends. And it just so happens that today, 26 Dec, a day just after Christmas, we have known each other for half a year already. Whoaz! Ever since that fateful welcome tea, which seems to transform and shape all the events which led up till now. Come to think of it, if I didn't agree to attend the Gen Acts welcome tea on 26 June, I wouldn't have known all the close friends that I have known in NUS, Robert, Qiaoping (well I met her a few days later), Yanting, Kenneth, to name a few. Of course there are others too. But thinking about it, we wouldn't have known each other at such a close level of fri...

A Christmas Carol

Hmm...., I actually thought of blogging my 102th post on Thursday but too bad internet connection and desktop broke down and therefore I have to delay my post for quite a few days. As a result, this means that I have to combine a few posts in one. Bothered and Upset Well, something happened on Thursday which totally caught me, and really, I have spent time thinking about what had really happened that day. That day, I was supposed to be helping at the World of Narnia and I was there. But somehow, it rained, though I prayed to God to intercede with the weather. As a result, the staff told me that I can be released. Somehow, I think it sort of drove me to Suntec where I arranged to meet some of my friends, cos I know they will be there, considering that I don't want to go home so early. Okay, I waited for them one hour and that's okay for me, as I expected that. Then they called me and we met up at the Suntec basement, only to find out that they already had their piece of fun befo...

Back with ... no vengence

Just came back from a beautiful trip to Genting. Though it's two days and one night, it just amazed me how the world is being created. Until now, even though I have been to Genting for quite a number of times for the past few years, I still can't but feel how 'wow' and 'whoaz' that place is. The climate is good, and imagine spending your weekend in the cloud... literally in the cloud. You can literally see the cloud in front of you... some sort of feeling that you are in heaven starbucking with God (if you believe in Him). We had quite some fun there, me and my group of YRC khakis. And had a celebration for my cousin, Simin's and Kaili's birthday in the midst of the night, before the gang opened the in-hotel-room mini casino ver 1.0 beta. For the benefit of those who wanna see, I will now let you all see what happened that night (not that spectacular compared to the one I did earlier of course): That's the entry of the cakes, the one wearing black jac...

A century of posts, an eternity of faith, hope and love

This is the 100th posting of my blogging career and as I promised, I have decided to post something special. It's not something that I have not blogged before but just that I think it's a good time at this time of the year and whatever has happened around me and my friends to talk about this issue. But before I start on what I wanna talk about, I will wanna share this short passage with my readers which I recently came across in my readings. Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of this cloak. She said to herself, "If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed." Jesus turned and saw her. "Take heart, daughter," he said, "faith has healed you." And the woman has healed from that moment. - Book of Matthew 9:20-22 Yes, in case you all have realised, I'm talking about faith. Actually any kind of faith, although in the short passage that I have written, it's about having faith o...

Open up

Note: no matter what have I become, this blog will still remain secular in nature for the general audience. I think if I can summarise the type of changes that I have experienced for the past few months, I'll say that it will be that I begin to see the world not with my head and not with my heart. I think you can see it with your head or with your heart but if you cannot see the world with love, all the understandings are just pure pointless. I think all these can be summarised by J.K Rowling, in her character named Harry Potter. In the story of Harry Potter, the power which sets him apart from his nemesis, Lord Voldemort (or otherwise used to be known as Tom Marvolo Riddles) is love. Well, I mean that love can sometimes be such a powerful force, more powerful than when you keep saying 'I can do it I can do it'. Well... as one of these recent movies might have said... 'perhaps love'. As the saying goes: Love one another and you will be happy. It is as simple and as ...

I wonder how, I wonder why?

I wonder how and I wonder why? Maybe it's because of Sunday, I start to think really seriously about an alternative lifestyle... not what you are thinking of, of course. But seriously speaking, I think it's normally fair for anyone to ask why on earth he's here for. What's your purpose in life and why? This is perhaps one question which I think everyone will search for in certain point of their life. Some can't find an answer and committed suicide or live their remaining life in despair. Some claimed to have found an answer and some claimed that they don't want to know the answer. Some hoped that they are some important part of some conspiracy theories. I can't be sure if I have found that answer, but I know that this answer lies deep in my heart somewhere. That day I was talking with one of my friends... (you dun need to know which day and which friend) Then I realise that I hold hope for almost everything in my life. Perhaps there is only one thing in life...

I dun know why

I dun know why... The past few days had been quite happening to me... nothing exciting though. Exam's finally over. I'm free for about 5 weeks. Not a long time, not a short time either. One good thing about this break is that it coincides with Christmas. Well... Christmas has been a special occasion for me, but dun be mistaken, I'm not a Christian. Just that... it's special to me, even more enjoyable than Chinese New Year, if you think of it, considering that I have to do 'house visiting' and such. At least Christmas I can go out with friends and see everyone having a good time. But then... I realised something a few days ago... that I need an answer why Christmas has been so special to me (not because of the stuff I have just mentioned). In any case, it's not an answer which will come to me all of a sudden... but an answer which I have been waiting for years. Of course that is not THE question but then... well...
